Sealing & Adhesion-Promoting Acrylic Primer
For New and Previously Coated Surfaces
UltraFlex Multi-Surface Primer is a water-based acrylic primer developed to seal porous surfaces, promote
adhesion and improve the performance of subsequent coating systems.
It is suitable for new plaster and masonry, previously painted walls and previously coated roof surfaces,
making it a practical preparation product for a wide range of residential, commercial and professional
applications.
Multi-Surface Primer dries to a white finish and provides a consistent base for the selected UltraFlex topcoat
system.
KEY BENEFITS
• Water-based acrylic primer
• Seals porous surfaces
• Promotes adhesion
• Alkali resistant
• Suitable for new and previously coated surfaces
• Suitable for interior and exterior use
• Helps improve topcoat performance
• Provides a consistent white base
• Low odour
• Easy application
• Suitable for residential and commercial projects
SUITABLE APPLICATIONS
UltraFlex Multi-Surface Primer is suitable for correctly prepared:
• New plaster
• Masonry
• Porous wall surfaces
• Previously painted walls in sound condition
• Previously coated roof surfaces
• Interior walls
• Exterior walls
• Residential properties
• Commercial buildings
• General preparation before compatible UltraFlex coatings
The substrate must be clean, dry, stable and suitable for priming.
COLOUR
White
The white finish provides a consistent base for subsequent coatings and may assist with colour uniformity.
SPREAD RATE
Approximately 5–8 m² per litre for a single coat, depending on:
• Surface porosity
• Surface texture
• Application method
• Existing surface condition
Highly porous or textured surfaces may achieve lower coverage.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Apply one complete coat to the correctly prepared surface.
Additional preparation or further priming may be required where:
• The substrate is highly porous
• Surface absorption is uneven
• Repairs have been completed
• The existing coating is chalky or unstable
• The surface requires a specialised primer system
Do not apply a topcoat until the primer has dried sufficiently.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Before applying Multi-Surface Primer:
• Remove dust, dirt, grease and surface contamination.
• Remove loose, flaking or poorly adhering coatings.
• Repair cracks and surface defects using the appropriate system.
• Allow new plaster and repairs to cure and dry sufficiently.
• Remove mould, chalking and friable material.
• Ensure previously coated surfaces are sound and compatible.
• Confirm that the substrate is clean, dry and stable before priming.
Active moisture, structural movement and substrate failure must be corrected before application.
APPLICATION
UltraFlex Multi-Surface Primer may be applied by:
• Brush
• Roller
• Suitable spray equipment
Stir thoroughly before and during application.
Apply evenly to achieve complete coverage without excessive spreading.
Follow the applicable Technical Data Sheet for detailed surface preparation, drying and recoating
instructions.
AVAILABLE PACK SIZES
• 20 L
• 5 L
SUITABLE TOPCOATS
Multi-Surface Primer may be used beneath compatible UltraFlex products such as:
• Premium Matt
• AquaClad
• RoofCoat
• RoofArmour
• Other approved UltraFlex acrylic coating systems
The correct primer and topcoat system must be selected according to the substrate and intended application.
IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS
• Do not apply to dirty, damp, unstable or poorly prepared surfaces.
• Do not apply over loose, chalky or failing coatings.
• Do not use as a substitute for structural or waterproofing repairs.
• Active moisture and rising damp must be corrected before coating.
• Highly alkaline, friable or specialised substrates may require additional preparation.
• Do not apply during rain or when rain is expected before the primer has dried sufficiently.
• Coverage may vary according to porosity and surface texture.
• Confirm compatibility before applying over unfamiliar existing coatings.
